I build each door one at a time to your requirements. I am not limited to a couple of
selections for door element dimensions, materials, build techniques, or finishes. I can
also build your door to be dimensionally appropriate and aesthetically pleasing for your
door opening size and your home. You may choose your dimensions for all door
elements; including Kickboard height, Stile width, Rail width, Muntins, Window size, Arch
Radius. My goal is to provide you with a hand-made custom garage door, or, "carriage
house door" of the highest quality; customized for you!

During my custom garage door evaluation and design consultation, I will search for architectural elements from your
home to incorporate into your door. Windows, entry doors, front porches, and house finishes all provide distinctive
styling for your custom garage door. Perhaps your home would benefit from incorporation of missing design elements?
The design process is only limited by your imagination. Following are some ideas to start you on the path to making your
dream door a reality.
BUILD
I will customize each door to your choice of build methods, processes, and/or materials. Many clients have chosen how I
have built my own personal doors for their strength, durability, and beauty. My own personal doors are South and West
facing enduring surface temperature readings of over 100 degrees in the dog days of summer, and, low teens in the
winter with winds up to 70mph off Puget Sound. Utilizing my professional finishing services, the painted finish still looks
new after 10 years of enduring the weather and sun.
With over 33 years of experience in woodworking and finishes, many clients reduce risk, and, find comfort, security and
peace of mind leveraging my knowledge and experience for their door decisions.
Starting with kiln-dried lumber, I hand inspect and moisture test all my wood prior to selection just like I was building a fine
piece of furniture. Warping, bowing, cupping, waning in a project are all examples of inappropriate lumber selection and
poor woodworking techniques. My processes and methodologies eliminate these woodworking maladies.
One of my most popular build solutions for a custom garage door or a carriage house door includes the following:

Top of the line professional finishes with 5, 7, or 10 year warranties available; hand application or spray application. With
over forty hours spent in finishing processes, your custom garage door will have a finish that will look new five, seven, or
ten years after installation. I provide both paint or stain finishes for your hand-made custom carriage house door with
custom color matching. I have several finishes available for both hand application and spray application. I provide a
professional finish utilizing up to four coats for paint and up to six coats for stain to provide a finish of unparalleled
protection, quality,richness, and character. Many of my hand-made custom garage doors are West facing, South facing,
or located within close proximity of saltwater as a testament to the quality of my work and finishes.
For clients requesting a professional hand-application paint finish, I apply a four coat process utilizing brushing, back-
brushing, and roller application of two coats professional grade primer/sealer and two coats of professional grade 100%
acrylic latex, with optional light sanding between coats, on ALL SIX SIDES OF THE GARAGE DOOR. Prep work prior to
painting includes surface touch-up as required, two complete sandings, with an optional micro-bead of commercial
caulking for those clients wanting an additional flexible barrier against moisture. Your door will look beautiful on both the
inside and outside!
The result is a beautiful balanced and sealed finish that will last for years WITHOUT nuisance maintenance painting or
"touch-up" coats; ie. the coat of paint every two years mentality...
My professional finishes and hand-made quality stand the test of time. My own personal doors are South and West

with winds up to 70mph off Puget Sound. My professional finish still looks new after 10 years of enduring the weather

I utilize upgraded commercial grade components including track, torsion springs, hardware, and nyloc ball-bearing rollers
to ensure your hand-made custom door will open and close with one hand; effortlessly. I design the door, build the door,
finish the door, and I INSTALL THE DOOR; all for a reason - Professional Quality. My installation is far and above a
"standard installation" from an installer who typically gets paid per job, not a job done right. When I finish installing the
door, it will be perfectly balanced and operate effortlessly without binding, pinching, racking, or zooming like a rocket.
Also the track will not bend, bow, or deflect. Your door will operate effortlessly and quietly with a garage door opener of
